Domenico di Carlo is born around 1870-2 in Corleone, the son of Vincenzo di Carlo and Salvatrice Paternostro, who married in 1847. Domenico is named after his maternal grandfather.
In 1886, his married sister emigrates to New Orleans, Louisiana, in the United States, with her husband's extended family.
In 1892, Domenico emigrates to New Orleans.
An unmarried sister, Biagia, emigrates in 1893.
Domenico becomes naturalized in 1900.
In the 1920 federal census, Dominick Carlo heads a household at 1601 Marais St. in New Orleans. He is 48 (b. 1872), single, and lives with his sister Biagia, 60 (b. 1860), also single. He immigrated in 1892 and became naturalized in 1900. She immigrated in 1893. Both are from Italy. Dominick owns a grocery and bar.[1]
Domenico marries Maria Lucia Riina, daughter of Calogero Riina and Vincenza Marino, on 1 October 1921 in Corleone.[2]
On the SS Gul Djemal sailing from Naples on 27 October 1921 and arriving in the port of New York on 10 November:
1. Domenico Di Carlo, 49 (b. 1872), married, naturalized in New Orleans, LA on 22 March 1921, and residing at 1606 Morais St., NOLA.
2. Lucia Di Carlo, 26 (b. 1895), married, wife of the above[3]
Domenico and Lucia have three known children: Selina (c. 1926), Vincent (c. 1928), and Dominick (c. 1929).
Dominick DiCarlo, born in 1870, dies on 19 May 1929 at age 58 or 59. He is buried in Saint Roch Cemetery #1 in New Orleans with his wife, Lucia, and with Mary DiCarlo (1875-1925)[4] of unknown relation.[5]
Dominick Calogero Di Carlo, called "Carlo," is born on 8 October 1929 in New Orleans.[6] He is named after his late father.
In the 1930 federal census of NOLA, taken 2 April, Lucy Di Carlo, 35 (b. 1895), a widow, heads a household at 1311 Bernard Av. She owns her home, worth $2,000. At home with Lucy are her children Selina, 3 yrs and 11 months (b. May 1926), Vincent, 1 year and ten months (b. Jun 1928), and Dominick, seven months (b. Sep 1929). She was born in Italy and married at 26 (m. 1921). Her children were born in Louisiana of Italian parents. Lucy immigrated in 1921 and is a naturalized citizen.[7]
Lucy dies, reportedly at age 50 (she is 55) on 7 April 1951 in New Orleans. She is buried in St Roch Cemetery #1 in NOLA the next day, in the same vault with her husband.[8]
Carlo dies at home at age 80 on 26 October 2009. He is survived by his sister, Celina Calderone, and brother, Vincent DiCarlo.[6]
